Harco expands in growing senior living sector

March 15, 2018

Harco Constructors was recently named construction manager for two Arkansas assisted living centers and is in negotiation for a third in the state and a fourth in Louisiana.

“The need for facilities of this nature continues to expand,” said Chuck Harper, Harco President. “Harco's past experience with similar facilities such as the FoxRidge properties and Heritage Living Center in Conway has set the stage for us to step with confidence into this growing market.”

Construction is scheduled to begin this spring on Arabella Luxury Retirement Community in Conway, with Harco building a 78,000 square feet assisted living and memory care facility.

Harco is also negotiating to serve as construction manager for Arabella’s new Rogers, Arkansas, facility. The Arabella company has three retirement communities in Texas and is expanding into Arkansas. The Conway location is their first with Arabella of Rogers following quickly behind.

Shawna’s Southern Estates in Camden, Arkansas, is a 55,000 square feet facility scheduled to begin construction later this year. The facility will bring a much-needed service to the Camden community and surrounding area.

Along with the Conway, Camden and possible Rogers facilities, Harco has another senior living project in Monroe, Louisiana, on the horizon.

Acclaimed television host and garden and design expert P. Allen Smith is developing a senior living facility near Monroe, Louisiana. Harco is currently attached to the project in a joint venture as construction manager.

Harco's expansion into the retirement community market comes as it continues construction in other areas, such as the new McLarty Daniel Bentonville Ford. A leader in automotive construction, this is one of multiple dealership projects Harco has in development for the coming year.

“We are busy, and that is great,” said Harper. “We are maintaining our base while expanding into areas of proven experience. It is exciting to think where we will be a year from now.”
